Hi Jillian, Thank you for your question! The Preciosa satin glass pearls have a high quality layer of painted matte lacquer over a white pressed glass substrate. The coating has a great adhesion so is more resistant to scratching or damage compared to most glass pearl beads. The surface is also non reactive, non toxic, shouldn’t cause any forms of allergic skin reaction and is 100% compliant with European health and standards testing for products to be used in jewellery.
