Make a Bead Spider Dragonfly Brooch
Tools required
Split needle (optional but very useful)
Scissors
Craft glue (optional)

Materials
4 of 5x16mm Czech glass dagger beads
1 of 6mm Crystal Bi-cone bead
4 of 4mm Crystal Bi-cone beads
Size 8 seed beads
Size 10 seed beads
1m of Monofilament thread

NB: If you wish to use regular beading needles with monofilament thread, squash the end of the thread with pliers to make threading the needle easier. You may also need to use the pliers to pull a short length of thread through the eye.
Step 1:
Thread on one size 10 seed bead and bring it to the middle of the monofilament.
Step 2:
Bring the ends of the monofilament together then thread on one 4mm bi-cone and one colour size 8 seed bead over both threads. Repeat three more times, then thread four more size 8 seed beads.
Step 3:
Separate the threads, then working on one thread only, thread two size 8 seeds, two daggers and two size 8 seeds.
Go back through the last four size 8 seed beads added in the previous step to form a half circle.
Go around the half circle and four beads again for strength.

Step 4:
Repeat with the second thread to complete the other set of wings for your dragonfly.
Step 5:
Bring the ends of the monofilament together then thread on one colour size 8 seed bead and one 6mm bi-cone and one size 8 seed over both threads.
Step 6:
Separate the threads, then working on one thread only, thread two size 8 seed beads and one size 10 seed bead.
Take the needle around the clear bead then down through the three size 8 seeds, the crystal and following size 8 bead.
Step 7:
Continue to go through the two size 8 seeds and one dagger bead on one side of the dragonfly. Repeat with the remaining thread, bringing the thread out between the daggers on the other side of the dragonfly.
Step 8:
Guide each thread through a hole in the brooch clasp then tie a few double knots to secure the dragonfly to the brooch. This will draw up the wings slightly giving a more 3D finish to the dragonfly. Place a drop of craft glue on the knot if desired
